Another Purty Sunset

I think that the title says it all. Another purty sunset!!! This was taken in Chobe National Park from the dinning platform in our camp. The sun was actually setting across the Chobe river and there was a fisherman on a traditional Mokoru passing in front of the sunset for this even more incredible shot:

It was very nice of the fishermen to pose like that for us! :) I love how the light of the sunset is reflected in the slow wake of the Mokoro. If you click on the second shot you will see it even better :)

Wow. Just plain Wow

Near the end of the trip we were out on a game drive out in Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe at sunset and stopped by a watering hole with lots of buffalo, guinea hens, and even three giraffes. However, it was the sunset that stole the show that night. This is just one of many fantasmigorical sunset pictures I got on the trip--I am sure that I will share many more over the coming months.

Maxfield Parish Lives!

OK, decided to take a shot not from Europe trip today J This is a picture that I actually took from my backyard in Woodland Hills, CA in 1999 and have always thought it looked like a Maxfield Parish painting come to life. Not too much to say about this one, but wow, that was a purty sky!!!

Never Take This Picture

Hello! Just a short note today as I am in the middle of grading g-chem exams but I needed a little break :-) This picture comes form Indiana in 1997 when I was a grad student at Purdue. I have titled it as a picture you should never take because if you look closely you will see that this is taken out of the window of a moving car--it is of the driver's side view mirror looking back at a fantastic sunset. I have always liked how the sunset is mirrored in the car's side window as well as the sky itself. Also, it was dark in front of the car so there is a great dark framing to the picture. Just don't tell my mom how I took it!
